Why Magento Teams Are Ready for a Better CMS Experience
[X] Coming Soon
CMS decisions impact everyone on your team—from developers wrestling with technical limitations to project managers dealing with blown timelines, and content managers struggling with complex interfaces. Outdated CMS solutions simply aren't cutting it anymore: they fight against efficient workflows, turn simple changes into complex workarounds, and make small customizations surprisingly expensive.
Understand why CMS solutions fail Magento teams and learn a better way of doing it. Through a live demo of the Hyvä CMS editor, we'll see how easy and intuitive content creation & management can be, with a brief comparison to Page Builder's limitations. Including a quick code example for developers, this will show everyone how easy and fast it is to maintain and customize a good CMS solution.
Attendees will learn:
- How CMS choices directly impact project budgets and long-term maintenance costs
- A history of CMS in Magento and how we can improve the CMS experience
- See how easy, quick and fun it is to work with Hyvä CMS, (a demo showing the editor plus a short code example)
- Best practices on working with Hyvä CMS (or any other CMS)
- Gain some tips on lesser known areas of Hyvä CMS and how you can extend/customize

Magento Website Performance Killers: What Not to Do in 2025
[X] Coming Soon
Let's cover do and do-nots:
What to avoid:
1. Not Tracking Core Web Vitals Sitewide
a. Many teams focus on visual changes or feature rollouts but overlook tracking the basics that define user experience. Metrics like LCP (Largest Contentful Paint), CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift), and FID (First Input Delay) are more than technical jargon — they define how smooth and fast your site feels to real users.
b. Without monitoring them across all templates and routes, you risk poor SEO and frustrated customers.
2. The Hidden Cost of 3rd Party Extensions
a. Just because an extension is installed doesn’t mean it’s free in terms of performance.
b. Many third-party modules add excessive layout handles, JavaScript files, or background processes — even if you’re not actively using all their features.
3. Expensive vs. Efficient Logic
a. Sometimes the problem isn’t what the code does, but how and where it does it. Placing heavy operations — like large collection filters, deep nested loops, or frequent load() calls — in high-traffic areas like product listing pages or checkout can be disastrous.
b. Even worse when these operations trigger synchronously, blocking other actions. This isn't just bad code — it's expensive code.
4. No Insights into Cache Hits & Misses
a. Caching is supposed to help performance, but without any visibility, how do you know it’s actually working? Many teams don’t track cache hit/miss ratios, or which pages are consistently uncached.
b. This blind spot can quietly degrade site speed, especially during peak hours. It’s like having a toolbox but never opening it to check what’s missing.
5. Misuse of Client-side Rendering
a. Overreliance on client-rendered JS causing unforeseen issues with website performance, interactivity.
b. This directly affects metrics like LCP and TTI. If you care about Google rankings and mobile shoppers, this one’s not optional.
6. Synchronous Dependency Overload
a. Another hidden pitfall — waiting on live responses from APIs, inventory checks, or pricing engines during the user’s session.
b. These real-time dependencies introduce server and database strain, slowing down the entire flow.
To Dos (Takeaway Actions to Avoid Mistakes)
1. Track Core Web Vitals regularly across all templates, including CMS pages, checkout, and custom modules. Use tools like PageSpeed Insights, New Relic, or Magento’s built-in profiler.
2. Review installed 3rd party modules code before installing. Audit their impact — layout updates, JS/CSS footprint, and observers. Disable or replace the ones that aren’t worth the cost.
3. Refactor heavy operations out of critical request paths. Use collectors, deferred execution, or caching where possible. Avoid load() in loops, and push expensive logic to async processes.
4. Set up monitoring for cache usage. Use tools like Redis CLI or Magento’s cache debug hints to identify patterns. Create alerts for low hit rates on key routes.
5. Balance client and server rendering wisely. Critical above-the-fold content should load server-side. Delay non-essential scripts using lazy loading or hydration techniques.
6. Asynchronously handle API and pricing rules where possible. Use message queues, background jobs, or caching layers to decouple the frontend from real-time processing.
